My name is Joost Bijsterveld. I am a father of two kids, not married but I have been living together with my girlfriend for over 10 years. I work as Director Proprietary Events at Philips, meaning I am responsible for the events that Philips hosts, and the experiental marketing and communications of these events. I have been working at Philips for more than 14 years in several positions. I used to be an avid korfball player, and now I am playing for the exercise and the fun. I was born at the music of Pink Floyd and I still regret that I have not seen them live. But I also like other music, concerts, good movies, travelling (I fell in love with the African continent) and reading books from my e-reader (never expected to say this, but I consider this the invention of the last five years).
I like to work together with others and feel at my best when developing new solutions with a team. I get enthusiastic when I can have a meaningful contribution that ‘sticks’. That is why I feel communications is a great profession: you can really make a difference – but you can never do that alone!
“No matter how much success you’re having, you can’t continue working together if you can’t communicate.”
Matt Cameron
